So I neglected to write a blog post yesterday, but the truth is that I needed a day off. When I woke up this morning, I finally felt like I was actually turning a corner. My right ear is still clogged and the ringing is still there, but most of the other symptoms are gone and most importantly, I feel like my concentration is back again. I was able to sit down and read this week’s issue of New Scientist without any trouble. It makes me think that I’m probably ready to write again and I am eager to get back to my current story.
I worked from home yesterday. We had both kids home as well because the Little Man’s school closed because the school directory passed away. Last night was supposed to be Parent’s Night at the school (it’s being rescheduled) and we’d arranged a babysitter. We decided to take advantage of the fact that we had one and Kelly and I went out to dinner while the kids stay home. It’s amazing how much an unrushed meal–one in which you aren’t constantly fiddling with the kids–becomes a simple pleasure. It was great to get out without the kids for 90 minutes and I think it was something we both really needed.
There are just two things I’d like to get done today:
- Clean the hardwood floors
- Write another scene in my current story
If I can get that done today, I’ll feel more accomplished than I’ve felt in a week.
