I have updated the theme to the Twenty Thirteen theme which was delivered with WordPress 3.6 (or maybe it was 3.5, I can’t quite recall). I like it because it is simple and clean and I needed to make fewer customizations than with my earlier theme Twenty Twelve. The fewer the customization, the better, since I maintain the site.
The banner is from a picture I took, but I don’t think it is permanent. It’s a little too dreamy for me. I have an idea for a better banner, but it will take me a little while to get to it. In the meantime, there’s nothing wrong with clouds, so I can live with it for now.
I’ve tried to improve the menus a bit, making them a little better organized and a little more useful. Most notably, I moved the Site Policies onto the menu bar so that it is more clearly accessible from every page.
I’m in the process of updating a lot of the link lists (blog rolls) at the bottom of the sidebar, to bring it more up-to-date with what I am reading these day, but that probably won’t be finished until later this week.
There are still some other small tweak I need to make, but I think you get the gist of what I am going for: an easy-to-read, and easy-to-interact-with site without a lot of bulk and extraneous stuff to weigh it down.
Let me know what you think in the comments.
Definite improvement. Refreshing a site in this way also “refreshes” readers and makes them want to return.
Looks really good – I might try it on my blogs.
Agreed. Looks great. Nice and clean. I can confirm that it looks great on mobile too.
Nice… I too thiing it looks clean and simple. (By the way, that desk does not look paperless – 🙂 )
PJ, I was wondering if anyone would notice. The picture was taken in the aftermath of my recent vacation, so things are in more disarray than usual.
