Getting back to A Storm of Swords (finally!)

Life has been keeping me so busy that I haven’t had much time to read outside the reading I do for my Vacation in the Golden Age, keeping up with my science magazines, and reading manuscripts for critique for various writers groups. I last touched George R. R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords well over a month ago. Since then, however, the e-book has stayed stuck on page 221. Until yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon, I discovered that George R. R. Martin was doing a Q&A at Google that was being broadcast live on the Internet as part of the Authors@Google program. I tuned in and watched Martin get asked questions for more than an hour, and it was great to see. Indeed, it inspired me to get back to reading A Storm of Swords, and when I crawled into bed last night, I started reading from where I left off. I was a little worried I would have lost some of the threads, but I seemed to slip back into it almost seamlessly. I managed to get through about 25 pages before my eyes stopped cooperating and kept closing.

I don’t think I can finish this book, A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons before the baby arrives in just under four weeks, but I’m going to do my best to see just how far I can get.

I think the live Q&A session was recorded and will be posted on the Authors@Google site in the future. If I see it up there, I’ll let you know. It was a great Q&A session.
