Workout #38 (Cardio)

Bernard told me that it takes about 3 weeks after the New Year for 90% of the people who made resolutions to get in shape to give up. This is where Bally’s makes most of their money, I suppose. But he was right. Today, when I got to the gym at 5:50, it was empty. Just about every elliptical machine was free and even the weight room was not crowded–the first time it’s been that way since before New Years.

40 minutes on the elliptical this morning. I burned 554 calories, went a distance of 2.96 miles and reached a peak RPM of 113. My pace was between 80 RPM. After cardio, I did a few groups of chest exercises in prep for my workout tomorrow.

Group 1 1st Set 2nd Set 3rd Set
------- ------- ------- -------
Chest press 12/95 12/105 6/105
Push ups 20 15 15
Knee-ins 15 20 20

Muscle fatigue set in early today. I was trying for 2 full sets of chest presses at 105 lbs, but I only managed 1-1/2. I felt kind of rushed because some guy came by and basically stood over the bench press waiting for me to finish (by this time, the gym had gotten a little bit busier). That might have accounted for it too. Truth is, I need more protein in the morning before strength training. I really need to start preparing hard boiled eggs the night before and see if that helps.

Next workout is tomorrow morning, full chest and back workout.
