Four things I’m looking forward to

30 Aug 2011 » 1 min read » Filed under: comics, Reading & Books

In a rough order of time-to-event:

  1. The new DC Comics: Action Comics #1 and Superman #1 which are scheduled to be available tomorrow, if I am not mistaken. I’ve never been a comic book reader, but I’ve always been a fan of superman and this looks like a good time for me to get started with the comics. Oh, and I can read them on my iPad
  2. Gollancz’s Science Fiction Gateway, coming this fall (press release here). Not only will the newest version of the Encyclopedia of Science Fiction be available for free online, but they will ultimately have thousands of backlist titles for big name SF authors available for purchase in e-book format. This wil be so cool.
  3. The release of Firebird by Jack McDevitt, the latest Alex Benedict novel. Scheduled for release on November 1 and I’ve already pre-ordered the Kindle version.
  4. The release of 11/22/63 by Stephen King. Scheduled for release on November 8 and I’ve also pre-ordered the Kindle version.
So what are you looking forward to?

Thanks for the heads up on Firebird. It’s also a reminder to me to buy the eBook version of his previous Benedict novel.

  2. You are mistaken. Tomorrow is the release of Flashpoint #5 and Justice League #1. Superman #1 and Action Comics #1 come out next month.

    Be patient! 🙂

    1. I couldn’t find a schedule anywhere, just the announcement indicating the release was August 31. I assumed it meant everything. That’s okay. I can be patient. 🙂

    2. When you said “next month” I was thinking I still had 30 days to wait. My schedule is all off. I just checked and Action Comics #1 comes out on September 7… one week from today.

  3. If you want to be more impatient, find a retailer open at midnight tonight! Or buy a digital download.

    1. Oh believe me, I’ll be getting the digital versions of Action Comics and Superman as soon as they are released.

  4. Um, gotcha? 🙂

The digital books will most likely be released at 2 pm EDT.
