My apologies for the lack of a decent post today. The Amazon Echo Dot we ordered arrived a little while ago, and I’ve grown obsessed with figuring out all of the things Alexa can do. I’ve also quickly discovered we need a nickname for Alexa in order to refer to it without triggering it.
So far, Alexa is integrated with our Nest, our Automatic Links, my FitBit, and, most recently, with Todoist, via IFTTT. I’ll be spending far too much time today figuring out what else Alexa can do. I’ll try to be back tomorrow with a proper post. Although, it’s possible that by tomorrow, Alexa will be writing these blog posts for me.
For what it’s worth, you no longer need IFTTT to connect your Echo to Todoist: https://blog.todoist.com/2016/10/13/todoist-alexa-integration/
Just make sure you turn off your IFTTT recipe/applet when you make the switch; otherwise, you’ll have mysterious time-delayed duplicate tasks!
Thanks for the tip! That’s even better!

I’m getting a device to by which to do my blogging and creative writing. I am looking at the Chromebook but I did not know what if anything about them. I read your blog and 2013 and thought you may know the best way to go. Whether that be a Chromebook or some other device. I just need a laptop configuration (screen attached to keyboard). and if Chromebook is the way to go, are there any specifics that may help me In my pursuit of the most potent professional device that incorporates everything one would need to be the best writer yet still have that competitive price. Looking to spend from 399 to 500 dollars U.S. pref. new
Broken links to Automatic, Fitbit…
Thanks for the heads-up. The links should be fixed. Serves me right for doing the post from the mobile app!
the link to Todoist takes me to a “you need to install Flash” interstitial rather than directly to https://en.todoist.com/
