Flowers for Algernon

I just finished reading Flowers for Algernon and what an ending! I mean, I knew how the book ended because I read it once in eight grade. But books didn’t affect me then the way they do now. On the train into work, I had to fight back some of the emotions. I don’t mind laughing outloud on the train, but to sit there with tears in your eyes seems silly. When I got into the office, I had about 20 pages to go, so I closed my door and finished the book.

I knew the last line of the novel before I ever got to it but it was still the most touching part of the whole book to me: “P.S. please if you get a chance put some flowers on Algernons grave in the backyard.” Whew!

Very good book!
