Edison Ford winter estate

Yesterday, we went to the Edison Ford Winter Estate, the place the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford would spend their winters in Fort Myers, Florida. It was a magnificent day, warm air with a pleasant breeze that quickly made you forget it was only a few days before Christmas.

The estate sits on the Caloosahatchee River and there is a fair amount to see. There’s the actual winter homes of both Edison and Ford. There are the grounds with all kinds of gardens and trees. And there’s the laboratory that Edison, Ford, and Firestone started up together. We spend a couple of hours wandering about, taking in the sights and listening to portions of the audio tour.
