Friday writing

Just completed 570 words, making up the first scene of “At Sea”. It’s not great, but I’m pushing forward with it. Maybe I’ll surprise myself? I don’t have the voice of the story yet, which is usually a warning sign. I know when a story is going well when I have the voice, but maybe I’ll worry about that more after the first draft is completed.

Plan on reading some of the Hugo-nominated short fiction this weekend, in addition to more of In Memory Yet Green. I’ll read what I can manage of the Hugo-nominated novels when I’m done with my regular April Asimov reading.

I was looking forward to watching the Yankees/Red Sox game tonight but it’s not being aired locally, which is too bad. On the other hand, it’s probably a good thing. Watching the game, as fun as it might be, would turn out to be just another distraction.
