I was reminded today by Robert J. Sawyer that the Hugo nominating deadline is only 11 days away. If you are a member of the World Science Fiction convention and have not already done so, don’t forget to get your nominations in before the deadline. I’ve already posted my nominations for the 2010 Hugo Awards, but I wanted to make another plug for one book in particular:
The Business of Science Fiction by Mike Resnick and Barry N. Malzberg for Best Related Work.
I’ve written about the importance of this book to the history of the genre. I know that there is close competition this year in this category (the Heinlein biography, to say nothing of Mark Rich’s excellent Kornbluth bio) but whereas those two books closely examine two individual subjects, the Resnick/Malzberg dialogues captured in The Business of Science Fiction span the entire genre from beginning to end. If you haven’t checked it out already, please do. It is, in my opinion, the most important book about science fiction to come out in the last decade.
