So my alma mater, the University of California, Riverside, has earned the distinction of being the top school for fans of science fiction–and the second best school for geeks.

Of course, UCR maintains the Eaton collection, which is a vast collection of science fiction books, magazines and other memorabilia, and I was able to make some use of it before I graduated back in 1994. But I don’t recall my creative writing professors embracing science fiction (or any genre fiction, for that matter) as those professors might do today.

In any case, congratulations, UCR! You’ve earned it!
