A rare open weekend

28 Jul 2012 » 1 min read » Filed under: Personal & Family

It turns out that this weekend is “open.” Our weekends tend to book up months in advance for a variety of reasons. But every once in a while, Kelly will leave a weekend open. It’s nice to have a weekend with no plans. No birthday parties to go to; no picnics; no events. It’s probably a little harder on the kids, but we still make due. Kelly has taken the kids to Gymboree this morning, for instance. And when they get home, I’m taking the Little Man to the library to get his first library card.

In the meantime, I’m taking advantage of the quiet, empty house to get some writing in on a story.

What else do I have planned for this open weekend?

Well, I’d like to finish reading It by Stephen King. I’d like to get some cleaning done around the house. I’d like to get this drawer full of cables organized. I’ve got some blog posts to write. It sounds like a lot, but imagine trying to get all of that done while the weekend is pretty well booked. This weekend is a kind of rare treat, therefore, and I’m glad we have these free weekends every now and then.

What are you doing this weekend?

Today, company picnic at a local amusement park, Valleyfair. (Think Six Flags).

Tomorrow may be gaming with the Indiegamers. And I have some writing to do…
