The bulk of my new workspace upstairs is now complete. I put the desk together last night and moved the computer and other things upstairs this evening. I took the opportunity to organize and hide as many of the wires and cables as I could, which is nice, but even nicer when the surface your new desk is glass. Here is how the workspace looks as of this evening.

The window faces east northeast. On the all opposite the window is the door to the upstairs hallway. I finally have a workspace with a door! I rarely close the door, and I’ve gotten used to working in the midst of chaos, but it’s nice to know that I can close the door if I need to.
I’m pretty happy with this setup, so far. I just completed my first writing session up here and it seemed perfectly fine. It is also easier to work with two computers in this configuration–it was always awkward on my old desk. But I’ll test that out in earnest the next time I work from home. In the meantime, I’ve done my first fiction writing in this room.
And now, I’ve written my first blog post here, too.
