Writing progress, August 30

Not good. I have all kinds of excuses this morning. I slept horribly last night, not because of the kids, but because of this cold. I felt like I had sludge in my throat and kept sucking in air all night. Made for a very uncomfortable night’s sleep. In turn, I overslept. I got the Little Man to school late and didn’t sit in front of the computer until almost 10am. I managed a little over 90 minutes of work on the novella but it was unfocused touch-ups and not a whole lot of forward progress.

I’m skimming the chapters in Jeff VanderMeer’s Booklife on the “private” part of booklife. I remember reading the book last summer after Readercon and finding the information within very helpful. Maybe a refresher will help get me situated so I can be more productive. I really do want to get this story finished and sent off to Analog. I think I have a good story to tell and when I pitched it to Stan, he seemed to agree. I’m aiming for much better progress tomorrow.
