Workout #21 (Cardio)

29 Dec 2006 » 1 min read » Filed under: Fitness & Health

Up at 4:30 after getting to bed shortly after 9:30 last night. I woke up to my alarm, rather than before it. Nevertheless, I was into the gym at 5:55 for cardio and a light arm/shoulder workout.

I did my cardio workout this morning, 40 minutes on the elliptical. I burned 532 calories, went a distance of 2.84 miles and reached a peak RPM of 113, all three of which were records for me. I also needed 75 RPM to maintain my 149 heart rate. After my first sprint, it took 60 seconds for my heart rate to go from 177 to 157.

Group 1 1st Set 2nd Set 3rd Set
------- ------- ------- -------
Pulldown 12/40 12/40 12/40
Bosu crunches 20LR 25LR 25LR
Arm curl 12/40 12/50 12/60

That last set of arm curls at 60 lbs may mean I can try upping my dump bell bicep curls to 25-30 lbs in each hand. I’ll be doing those tomorrow and I’ll give it a shot and see how it feels. The pulldowns felt tougher today than usual, but I had been doing 2 sets of 35 lbs and 1 set of 40 lbs. This was 40 lbs for all 3 sets so maybe that made the difference.

Arms and shoulder workout tomorrow–probably middle-late afternoon since that is when the weight room at the Ballys in Greenbelt seems to be the least-crowded.
