Workout #44 (Cardio)

Up at 4:30 AM and even though I turned the lights out close to 10 PM, I feel like I got a pretty decent night’s sleep last night. It was cold this morning, especially with the wind, so much so that I strategically placed myself behind a pole while waiting for the train, which gave me some relief. As usual, I was into the gym at about 5:50 AM.

40 minutes on the elliptical this morning. I burned 554 calories, went a distance of 2.96 miles and reached a peak RPM of 113. My pace was between 80 RPM. After cardio, I did some chest exercises in prep for my workout tomorrow.

Group 1 1st Set 2nd Set 3rd Set
------- ------- ------- -------
Chest press 12/95 12/105 11/115
Bench dips 12 15 15
Knee-ins 20 20 25

I heard someone say today that if you are not struggling on your last 2 reps, you are not getting anywhere. So for my last set of chest presses, I upped the weight to 115 (45 lbs for the bar and 35 lbs on each side). Rep 10 and 11 were very tough (in fact, on the last rep, I could only get the bar back to the lowest rungs). But it felt good to move to the next level. I’d never done 115 lbs on the flat bench before and I nearly did a full set, too.

Tomorrow’s workout is chest and back.
