Social “distortion”

I headed to breakfast just after 8 AM and then on my way home, decided to get the grocery shopping out of the way. I bought one of those Crest teeth whitening kits to see if they really work in 7 days. My teeth are not terribly discolored, just kind of off-white, but enough so that I notice it. I figured I’d give it a shot and see. I’ll let you know in 7 days.

Throughout all of this, I was listening to Social Distortion’s self-titled album. The more I listen to that, the more I like it. Often, when I really get into an album and I’m at home, doing chores, or in the shower, I’ll sing along, and I’m not shy about it. Usually Zeke runs for cover. But I have this kind of censor that prevents me from doing this in public. It’s very much like the censor that prevents me from using bad language in front of parents and ladies (although I use bad language to a far less extent than I sing out loud). Today, however, while pulling two boxes of Cheerios off the shelf in the cereal aisle, I noticed that a few people were staring at me. You guessed it. My censor had failed and I was singing out loud the song “Sickboy”. Ah, well, what are you gonna do, right?

The nice thing about getting the grocery shopping done early is that it frees up most of the day for me. I’m trying to finish up Volume 1, Issue 3 of SF AGE today. I also want to get started on the final draft of “4005 B.C.” I have some laundry to do, and I do need to run up to Petco to get some more dry food for Zeke. I’m even thinking about heading to the gym later on to make up for missing my arms and shoulder workout yesterday. But we’ll see. One thing at a time.

Oh yeah, and one other thing: ever since my dream this morning, I have had a powerful desire to re-read The Call of the Wild and White Fang, which I remember reading during junior high school, and which I remembered really enjoying.
